Europe

As my first year wedding anniversary approached, I casually mentioned to my husband, “let’s go to Paris for our anniversary,” literally as a joke. I had never traveled out of the US and living in Michigan went to Florida for vacation. My husband, who is vastly more traveled than I, said “let’s go.”

One passport later and we were on a plane to Paris. We spent 10 days exploring Paris, Versailles, Rome, and Tuscany. We went to all the classic tourist spots and spent our nights in one of a kind airbnbs.

Let me just say, the architecture and attention to detail in these places is breathtaking. The history and stories that date back so long ago, man I wish the walls could talk. There are so many different types of design and style, many thousands of years old, still standing to tell a story of how they came to be.

The food, oh my, the food. Nothing compares to homemade wine in Tuscany or strolling along with gelato. I still crave the simplicity of Italian cooking.
